Bechtel Partners with the Saudi Women Engineers Society
The new partnership will support Saudi’s Vision 2030 goal to empower women in the region by increasing career opportunities, including development and training, for women in the workforce. “Bringing more diverse talent into the engineering and STEM fields in Saudi Arabia is crucial to delivering on Vision 2030's goals,” said Abdul-Rahman Al-Ghabban, president of Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) and regional manager for the Middle East Region at Bechtel. “Bechtel is partnering with SWES with the goal of inspiring more women in Saudi Arabia – and around the world – to pursue engineering careers and to become future leaders in our industry.”

Syria’s civil society is on the cusp of a potentially game-changing political intervention. Following two years of preparation, the Madaniya (“Civil”) initiative held its inaugural conference at the Institut du Monde Arabe, in Paris, on June 5-6. With over 180 participating organizations, it showcased the intellectual and networking capacity of Syrian civil society built over the past several years with mainly Western support.

Syrian NGO offices are mostly concentrated in areas where the earthquake struck, such as Turkey’s Gaziantep and Hatay provinces. Some NGO employees and their families ended up becoming victims as a result. Others suffered from instability. Despite this, they arranged their affairs within a short period and designed the required response for the affected people in northern Syria.

Eid Al Fitr is expected to start on April 21, says Emirates Astronomical Society
The first day of Eid Al Fitr is expected to fall on Friday, April 21, the Emirates Astronomical Society has said. “Most likely, Ramadan this year will be for 29 days. Eid Al Fitr and the first of Shawwal will be on Friday April 21,” Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the society's board of directors, told The National. According to the astronomical calculations, the Eid Al Fitr holiday in the UAE — which is from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 — will be from Thursday, April 20, until Sunday, April 23.

“Thinking about the situation when I first started my career in 2010, and then seeing how everything is right now, it’s extremely surreal I cannot believe it. It’s like a cultural shock while I’m living it. Thank God, its going in the right direction”, AlZouman reflected on her 10+ years career in Saudi Arabia.
