Builders have already broken ground on a new $4 billion, 8-hectare project megaproject in Saudi Arabia, consisting of a large lagoon, the first Jack Nicklaus golf course in the Kingdom, and more as part of a larger development.
The project, the Prince Sultan Cultural Centre (PSCC), is one of 8 mega projects the company has under development in the region.
The company, a Chilean organization that has built the world’s largest pool in Chile, aims to make the development “the largest manmade crystalline lagoon of its kind in the Kingdom and represents yet another milestone in Crystal Lagoons’ efforts to expand its Middle East presence,” the company said in a press release.
“Crystal Lagoons can transform any destination into an idyllic beach paradise. Our unique concept and cutting edge technology provides an unlimited size lagoon amenity surrounded by picturesque sandy white beaches,” the company says on its website.
“This is an exciting time to be in the forefront of tourism in the Middle East. A lot of ongoing investment is being seen put into tourism infrastructure in key markets from Oman to Saudi Arabia. This is further coupled with a positive economic outlook for a number of GCC nations. Our projects support key tourism players and government bodies in further positioning the region for leisure experiences,” said Kevin P Morgan, CEO, Crystal Lagoons in April 2014.
Crystal Lagoons’ San Alfonso del Mar is a private resort on the Chilean coast that has the worlds largest swimming pool – parts of which are as deep as 115 feet, yet remain crystal clear to the human eye all the way to the bottom. Small sailboats may travel on the waters of San Alfonso del Mar and sail parallel to the ocean on significantly calmer seas.
