Pritzker, who spoke last September at the U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum in Los Angeles for which SUSTG was a principal organizer, announced a new initiative called NEI Next, a forward-focused plan building on the Obama Administration’s National Export Initiative. Held at the Atlantic Live offices in the Watergate building in Washington, the Secretary spoke about the importance of international trade and exports for U.S. companies, before moving to a discussion format with Steve Clemons, who has been a featured speaker at all three U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum events.

The Secretary touched on her recent international travels, including a trip to the Middle East, which included a visit to Saudi Arabia, last March. Before joining Obama’s cabinet, Secretary Pritzker helped build successful businesses in the real estate, hospitality, senior living, and financial services industries.

Here’s the video:

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, NEI/NEXT is a “data-based, customer service-driven initiative to ensure that more American businesses can fully capitalize on markets that are opening up around the world. Through five core objectives, NEI/NEXT will build on Administration-wide achievements under the National Export Initiative (NEI), to help all businesses reach the 95 percent of consumers who live outside the United States.”

During remarks delivered at the U.S.-Saudi Forum in Los Angeles last September, the Secretary said that “the United States and Saudi Arabia have a strong trade and investment relationship” and noted that in 2012, trade between the two countries hit all-time record highs. “Our bilateral trade is now triple what it was just a decade ago.”
