Lebanon’s Economic Crisis Endangers Country’s Health Care
The shortage of medical supplies and cutbacks in hospital services are perhaps the starkest effects of the country's fiscal crisis. Thanks to a scarcity of dollars in the country, the Lebanese pound, officially pegged at 1,507 pounds to the dollar, has slipped to a rate of more than 2,000 to the dollar at currency exchange shops, meaning that importers are facing a de facto price increase.

United Nations accuses Russia of war crimes in Syria
A United Nations (U.N.) panel investigating the conflict in Syria has, for the first time, accused Russia of direct involvement in war crimes for the “indiscriminate” bombing of civilian areas. The U.N. report from the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, published Monday, covered the period between July 11, 2019 and January 10, 2020, with a focus on attacks by “pro-government forces” on civilian targets. It warned that people in the country continue to face “unprecedented levels of suffering and pain” after nearly nine years of conflict.

All modern Thoroughbreds can trace part of their bloodlines back to pure-blooded Arabians.

But insiders of the Saudi running scene said that there was now a genuine demand for running events in the Kingdom. Running now happily coexists with horse and camel racing, shooting, archery and falconry – traditional favourites among the Saudis, explains Nizar Al-Tuwaijri.

As a Saudi woman scientist, I’m tired of negative stereotypes
Some of my US colleagues refused to believe I could have received an adequate education at home. I was constantly asked whether I could speak English, whether I had learnt this or that basic concept in medical school, or — as a Saudi woman — whether I would have problems working alongside men. It was a shock to hear such questions from people at world-class institutions.
