Special Economic Zone Created at Riyadh Airport to Attract Investment; New Jazan Project Launched

Saudi Arabia announced the establishment of a special economic zone around Riyadh’s airport to draw more foreign investment, Reuters reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The zone, which will be located in King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, will “focus on integrated logistics and enjoy special rules and regulations aiming at attracting more multinational companies to the Kingdom,” according to the report.

Meanwhile, as the Kingdom nears completion of a brand new look for its Jeddah airport, which serves the Kingdom’s second largest city, it is now eying the launch of a SAR2.5bn ($666m) airport project in the Saudi city of Jazan.

The King Abdullah airport project, which will be implemented at a site located 30km north of the center of Jazan city, is located on a total area of 57,500 square meters and will be completed within 3.5 years, according to Gulf Business.
