2015 SACM Graduation Ceremony and Career Fair Dates Announced, Venue Confirmed

The 2015 Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission’s (SACM) Graduation Ceremony and Career Fair dates are set for Friday, May 22, 2015, to Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Gaylord Hotel National Harbor just outside of Washington, D.C.

The 7th annual SACM event has two main components, a career fair connecting graduating students with job opportunities from companies around the world, and a graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of students on Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Scholarship Program (KASP).

SACM’s career fair and graduation ceremony will take place at the Gaylord National Harbor in Washington, D.C.

The 2015 SACM Event will be the first to take place under Saudi Arabia’s new minister of Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Al-Sabti, who was previously a deputy minister for Higher Education and spoke at the U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum in Atlanta, of which SUSTG was a co-organizer.  He replaced outgoing Minister Khaled bin Mohammed Al-Anqari.

As the KASP grows in size and mandate, so too does the SACM Career Fair’s annual attendance.  Students on the King Abdullah Scholarship Program and their families come from all over the United States to celebrate their achievements and match their skills with employment opportunities with U.S. and Saudi-based companies. At last year’s event, 12,000 students graduated.

Saudi officials and other VIPs also attend the graduation ceremony. In advance of last year’s ceremony, SUSTG interviewed Abdullah Alhazmi, then-COO of Saudia Airlines about the meaning of the scholarship and the significance of the event. Alhazmi said that in addition to being a major supporter of the scholarship program and the SACM event, the thousands of Saudi students studying abroad are a major customer base for the company.
