An ‘original’ student volunteer from the first U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum in Chicago in 2010, Khalid Habash is a master with the camera, an excellent communicator and always willing to help. So, when SUSTG began its selection process to identify 15 top-flight Saudi students to be founding members of our Student Ambassadors Program, Khalid was one of the first people we considered.
In Los Angeles, Khalid was part of the Student Ambassador Program’s Audio/Visual team and spearheaded a team of talented photographers and videographers tasked with documenting the Forum. Their work provides a glimpse of the energy throughout the event as well as the individuals who contributed to a dynamic networking business environment.
This isn’t the first time we’ve featured Khalid’s excellent work on SUSTG.org. Last September, we published a photo essay and interview with Khalid, featuring his photos from his recent trips to Jeddah and Mecca in Saudi Arabia. SUSTG also featured his work from the SACM Career Fair and Graduation Ceremony, an annual event held in Washington D.C. to celebrate the achievements of Saudi students studying in the United States on the King Abdullah scholarship.
In that interview, we noted that Khalid first got into photography in 2007, after meeting Saudi director Hamzah Jamjoom. Although Jamjoom is now famous for IMAX Arabia 3D, which has toured many cities across the United States, Mr. Jamjoom at the time was still a student at DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media in Chicago and also teaching a class there in photography. After a class with Mr. Jamjoom, Khalid told SUSTG he was immediately inspired to learn photography. Since then, it has evolved beyond just a hobby into a business and art form.
Ever the student, Khalid is more than a photographer and videographer. He now lives on a small farm in Wisconsin and is studying to become a farm-to-table chef, using ingredients that he grows himself.
