Deputy Minister for Industrial Affairs at the Saudi Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Walid Abukhaled, has been selected by Northrop Grumman to head its Saudi Arabia operations, the company said in a press release today.
H.E. Mr. Abukhaled, who spoke in September at the 2013 U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum in Los Angeles, California, was former head of General Electric for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain before joining the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Commerce and Industry under H.E. Dr. Tawfig Al Rabiah.
The appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2014. According to a press release issued by Northrop Grumman, Abukhaled “will be responsible for leading the company’s operations in the Kingdom, accelerating growth and exploring opportunities for public-private partnerships. This will include coordinating the company’s relationship with Saudi Arabia and providing strategic support to the company’s Middle East business activities.”
Before joining GE, he worked for BAE Systems in Saudi Arabia.
