Saudi Arabia Crown Prince: U.S., Saudi Arabia Still ‘Brothers’, Says Differences Minimal

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia said in televised remarks aired on Tuesday in the Kingdom that the United States was still a strong strategic partner under the Biden administration and that Riyadh and Washington had only a few differences which it was working to resolve.

The remarks were made on the five year anniversary of the announcement of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 social and economic reform blueprint, on which the Kingdom is proceeding at full speed.

The Crown Prince on Tuesday also laid out his vision for the Kingdom’s foreign policy, with the US as a strategic partner and working with allies to find solutions to Iran’s “negative behavior.”

The crown prince devoted a large part of his remarks to the Kingdom’s place in the world.

“We are more than 90 percent in agreement with the Biden administration when it comes to Saudi and U.S. interests and we are working to strengthen these interests,” the prince said. “The matters we disagree on represent less than 10 percent and we are working to find solutions and understandings … there is no doubt that the United States is a strategic partner,” he added.

The remarks covered a wide range of topics. The Crown Prince spent much of the time discussing the progress of the Vision 2030, which he said was launched because oil revenues barely covered the needs of the Kingdom’s growing population.

The Crown Prince also highlighted environmental achievements from across the Kingdom over the past 5 years, including leaps forward in increasing vegetation and protecting biodiversity.
