United Nations Recognizes Saudi Arabia’s Tawakkalna App with Public Service Award for 2022

Saudi Arabia’s game-changing Tawakkalna app has been awarded the United Nations Public Service Award 2022 for institutional resilience and innovative responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, Arab News and the Saudi Press Agency reported. The award was given to Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), at an annual forum that recognizes distinguished figures in public service who work to achieve sustainable development goals.

Alghamdi said that receiving the award “illustrated the Crown Prince’s leadership and Chairman of the SDAIA’s Board of Directors’ unwavering support for the various initiatives launched by SDAIA to improve government collaboration and maximize the benefits of AI,” according to Arab News.

Tawakkalna was launched by SDAIA to assist the government in combating COVID-19, but has since expanded its role in serving people in Saudi Arabia significantly.

Recently, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority launched a new app, called Tawakkalna Services, to help improve the quality of life in the Kingdom. It provides 140 services that cover health, education, transport, Islamic and public services, and entertainment through 40 strategic partnerships. These include rendering a driving license, insurance documentation, passport inquiries and requests, a digital wallet approved by government agencies, charitable donations, data correction, and information verification.
