A school holiday combined with the busy 2024 Riyadh Season events have pushed occupancy and price levels for Riyadh hotels to record highs.
Launched on October 12, in the first month alone four million people have attended the expanded Riyadh Season 2024. Attracted to a variety of fixed entertainment venues including Boulevard World, Kingdom Arena, Boulevard City, The Venue, and Al-Suwaidi Park as well as 14 zones, 11 world championships and 10 exhibitions, the city was already flooded with visitors.
Now adding to the surge is the fact that millions of Saudi students are on a school break from November 7-17. Many of these students and their families are taking advantage of the break to participate in Riyadh Season.
As a result, current occupancy rates at some central Riyadh hotels and those near the airport have reached 100%, while overall citywide occupancy is at 76%. Room costs have reached SR7,000 per night, especially at five-star hotels in central Riyadh, according to the Saudi news portal Sabq, citing booking websites.
According to a Gulf News article, prices for apartments and suites have reached between SR8,000 and SR12,000 per day.
Recently completed showcase events such as a championship boxing match, the Six Kings Slam Tennis Championship and the WTA women’s championships all contribute to increased demand.
