After six seasons in Diriyah the Formula E World Championship will be held in Jeddah February 14 and 15.
The 2024–25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the eleventh season of the FIA Formula E championship, a motor racing championship for electrically powered vehicles recognised by motorsport’s governing body. Since Season 5 in 2018 and for six seasons until 2024 the race in Saudi Arabia has been held in Diriyah as the first Formula E event held in the Middle East.
The race will be held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the same venue used by the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Formula One with a modified track shortened to 3.001 km (1.865 mi), with the addition of a hairpin connecting Turn 3 to Turn 22 on the F1 layout, and four chicanes placed on the front and back straightaways.
The move to Jeddah solidifies Jeddah’s growing reputation as a hub for international sporting events.
The 11th season began with an opener in Brazil, followed by the second round in Mexico on January 11.
The NEOM McLaren team currently leads the teams’ championship standings.
‘We are thrilled to welcome Formula E to Jeddah after six successful years in Diriyah. The Jeddah Corniche Circuit has proven itself to be a home to world-class racing since its opening in 2021, and in that time has established itself as the world’s fastest street circuit, acknowledged by fans and racers alike as one of the most exhilarating racing venues in the world today. It is a great pleasure to confirm that it will now add Formula E to its portfolio of world-class events.”
