Aramco Names Ibrahim Al Buainain as Chief Executive of Its Trading Arm

Saudi Aramco has named Ibrahim Al-Buainain as chief executive of its trading arm, the company said on Tuesday, as Al-Buainain’s star continues to rise within the ranks of the energy giant.

Ibrahim Al-Buainain’s promotion to CEO of Saudi Aramco Trading takes effect this month.

In November 2014, Aramco named Al Buainain as head of Saudi Aramco’s Asian operations. Before that, Al-Buainain was in charge of Saudi Arabian Oil Co.’s global energy investments, where he held the title of Head of Transaction Development.

Al-Buainain was also CEO of Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures, the VC arm of Saudi Aramco that invests in new technology and startups related to Aramco’s broader energy and business goals.

Ibrahim Al Buainain is a graduate of MIT’s Sloan School of Management in Boston, Massachusetts.

Buainain replaces Yasser Mufti, who was named executive director of new business development in June, according to Reuters.
