Brooks Koepka Wins First LIV Golf Jeddah Event, Overcomes Uihlein on 3rd Playoff Hole

Brooks Koepka holed his birdie putt on the third playoff hole to win the LIV Golf Invitational-Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Sunday and claim his first victory on the tour.

According to Bloomberg, Koepka, who is a former top-ranked player and four-time major winner, was “emotional afterward as the 32-year-old revealed he had feared for his career while battling injury.”

The event was the first LIV Golf tournament at Royal Greens in KAEC, where the annual Saudi International is typically played in January or February.

Koepka battled fellow American Peter Uihlein all weekend and they matched each other birdie for birdie on the first two playoff holes. But Koepka eventually prevailed after Uihlein’s third shot from the sand went into the water while Koepka hit a textbook shot before making the putt to seal his first victory since February 2021.

Golfweek has a breakdown of the earnings from the event. Koepka earned $4,000,000 for his individual win.

“The last two years haven’t been fun. It’s been a long road,” Koepka said. “I didn’t know if my career was over for a half second. So it’s nice to be able to come back and be able to win.”
