Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday evening to offer his condolences on the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Crown Prince Mohammed was personally greeted at the airport by the UAE’s new President, Sheikh Mohamed, who was unanimously chosen as the new president by a council of the rulers of the Emirates.
The Crown Prince arrived in the UAE just hours after Vice President Kamala Harris met on Monday with the new president of the United Arab Emirates, after leading a US delegation to the UAE to express in-person condolences following the death of Sheikh Khalifa, CNN reports.
According to a report in The National, Prince Mohammed conveyed the condolences of King Salman and his sorrow at the loss of Sheikh Khalifa. Prince Mohammed was accompanied by a large delegation of princes and officials from Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Prince Khalid bin Salman, Prince Mohammed’s brother and Deputy Minister of Defense, is in Washington to lead the Saudi delegation to the U.S.-Saudi Strategic Joint Planning Committee, a White House National Security Council spokesperson told Axios.
