Saudi Arabia’s mountain destination of Leyja, announced last month, will be managed by high-end brand Habitas, according to a report.
Leyja is the latest project from Neom and will consist of three hotels of 40 keys each in the mountain area near the Gulf of Aqaba. According to a report in Skift, the “Human connection” brand Habitas has been confirmed as the operator, and its founder and CEO has promised he will create something people will flock to.
“Human connection is at the core of our brand and ethos,” said the avatar of Habitas CEO Oliver Ripley during a virtual, human-less, press conference Neom decided to host in the metaverse. “We want to send guests on a transformative journey and they are invited to attend a welcome ceremony. Really, the essence is about reconnecting with themselves, their loved ones and with new friends and people. It’s all about human connection.”
Leyja builds on NEOM’s “ongoing commitment to becoming a multi-faceted destination and supports the Kingdom’s efforts to build a strong tourism industry under Saudi Vision 2030,” NEOM says. As a luxury eco-tourism location, Leyja “reflects broader conservation ambitions, while providing an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves within the incredible natural landscapes of the region.”
