Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released the official figures for this year’s Hajj season.
Writing for Al-Arabiya, Ghinwa Obeid provided a useful overview of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) official report regarding pilgrims attending the 2024 Hajj.
According to the article:
1,833,164 pilgrims performed the annual pilgrimage, 1,611,310 of whom were from outside the Kingdom with domestic pilgrims-both citizens and residents-numbered at 221,854.
The number of male pilgrims year reached 958,137, female pilgrims totaled 875,027,
Of the 1,611,310 international pilgrims 22.3 percent came from Arab countries, 63.3 percent, the largest group, from Asian non-Arab countries, 11.3 percent from African non-Arab countries, 3.2 percent from Europe, America, Australia, and other unclassified regions.
The vast majority of international pilgrims, 1,546,345, arrived by air, 60,251 through land border crossings and 4,714 by sea.
