At long last, one Saudi will be able to claim to be the best drifter in the Kingdom.
The Saudi Star Drift Championship kicks off this month for the first time, and will be supervised by the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation. The series will take an otherwise illegal but popular hobby in Saudi Arabia and make it legitimate and regulated.
Abdullah Bakhashab, motorsport developer and leader of the series, said the championship would consist of four rounds to be held all over the Kingdom, according to the Saudi Gazette. The first round of the championship will take place at King Abdullah Adventure Park at Al-Shoabah in Al-Ahsa province on Nov. 21. The second round will be held at Al-Khohar Cornich, opposite Fouad Center on Dec. 5.
Among the sponsors are Nissan Saudi Arabia, Saudi Total Lubricants, Alif Alif Radio and In-10-So Karting Center.
Three winners from each round will qualify for the final round.
