VIA Riyadh, a new entertainment, retail, and hospitality district in the capital city has opened to the public, giving visitors and citizens a new destination in the Salmani architecture style.
The new district includes a shopping mall, a hotel, a cinema, and a variety of super trendy restaurants and chic cafes. The development covers an area of 1.5 million square meters and the shopping mall has a gross leasable area of 600,000 square meters.
The new district is also home to Riyadh’s first St Regis Hotel – located in the complex with 200 luxury rooms.
Turki Al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, said Via Riyadh will be one of the finest entertainment destinations in the capital.
VIA Riyadh was “designed to work in perfect harmony with the local identity of the capital, preserving the unique identity of the city. The ancient stones that formed the famous Tuwaiq mountain in Dhurma ages ago, were professionally extracted to bring them to the present. The area has a significant place in Saudi history since it was the birthplace of the Second Saudi State in the 1820s.”
A video promotion featuring Modern Family star Sofia Vergara was unveiled ahead of the opening.
The district will feature a number of high-end restaurants, including a Spago, founded by the famous chef Wolfgang Puck.
