Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province municipality is planning a model city comprising a residential, economic, and tourism center along the scenic Half Moon bay just south of Al Khobar and across from Bahrain.
When complete, the city will absorb 350,000 people, providing 90,000 jobs over the next 30 years, according to Construction Week Online and Arab News.

“The new city will be an integrated center with facilities for 650 boats, conferences and exhibition center and a maritime museum, besides 88,000 housing units, commercial areas, offices, a techno-park and various kinds of public transport.”
Recently, Saudi Arabia’s residential construction in cities has trended toward high-rise luxury, particularly in Dammam, Khabar, and Dhahran.
Although the development of Half Moon Bay is still in the planning stages, Saudi Arabia continues to invest in new projects aimed at expanding economic diversification and job creation despite a dip in oil prices and the use of reserves to cover recent budget shortfalls.
