In an interview with the BBC on Monday, HRH Prince Turki al-Faisal said that Saudi Arabia would seek the same rights that Iran has with respect to enrichment of nuclear fuel.
“Iran is a disruptive player in various scenes in the Arab world, and so ending the fear of Iran developing weapons of mass destruction is not going to be the end of the troubles we’re having with Iran,” the Prince said.
When asked about American acceptance of the backing of Iraqi armed forces with Iranian help, interviewer Barbara Plett Usher asked if there was an alternative.
“There is — the Iraqi people” themselves, Prince Turki said. “Now it seems Iran is expanding its occupation of Iraq. That is unacceptable.”
On Syria, the Prince said it was not just the United States who is slow to help Syria. “But it is not just the Americans. It’s the whole world. There seems to be a plot on the part of the world community to ignore the suffering of the Syrian people,” the Prince said.
“The Americans are working with us now on many issues now” including fighting the Islamic State, on intelligence and training, Prince Turki said.
