Saudi Arabia has seen a surge in demand for cybersecurity specialists amid growing concerns about cyber threats within the Kingdom, according to a recent report by security software company Qrator Labs.
The report found that searches for cybersecurity analysts in Saudi Arabia saw a significant 133.3 percent increase in 2023 compared to the previous year.
Searches related to cybersecurity work saw a 353 percent year-over-year increase.
According to Al Arabiya English, the spike in demand comes as Saudi Arabia faces heightened cybersecurity risks, with Gulf countries being among the most targeted nations globally for cyber threats.
Victor Zyamzin, Global Head of Business Development at Qrator Labs, told Al Arabiya English that the threat of cyberattacks is a global issue, and the challenges will likely increase due to the rapid growth of construction, urban, and other projects in the region.
“As resources in Saudi Arabia continue to develop and become more secure, the complexity of cyberattacks will also increase. Consequently, businesses that have not prepared for less sophisticated attacks will be at higher risk,” he said.
The report emerges just days before Saudi Arabia’s LEAP24 conference, a major tech and entrepreneurship event.
