Saudi Arabia is to allow its women athletes to compete in the Olympics for the first time. Officials say the country’s Olympic Committee will “oversee participation of women athletes who can qualify”. The decision will end recent speculation as to whether the entire Saudi team could have been disqualified on grounds of gender discrimination.

Jadwa Investment’s recently released May inflation report for Saudi Arabia found a year-on-year decrease in inflation to 5.1 percent, the lowest since August 2011. Jadwa noted that the decline “was due to a fall in inflation for ‘other expenses and services,’ which stems from lower gold prices.”

Salaries in Saudi Arabia are expected to rise by an average of 6 per cent in 2024, as demand for talent continues to surge amid the kingdom's efforts to diversify its economy away from hydrocarbons under its Vision 2030 plan, according to recruitment specialist Cooper Fitch. Over the past year, the kingdom has created 1.12 million jobs in the private sector as part of its plan to develop more than $1 trillion worth of projects, the Ministry of Finance said in its 2024 budget statement.

Houthi bypass: Quietly, goods forge overland path to Israel via Saudi Arabia, Jordan
Israel-based freight forwarder Mentfield Logistics is among the companies involved in establishing a commercial trade route circumventing the Red Sea by sending goods from the ports of Dubai and Bahrain overland on trucks passing through the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and ending at Israeli ports. Saudi Arabia To Launch Dream Of The Desert, The Middle East’s First Luxury Train
The 800-mile trip will begin in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital city, and travel northwest toward the border with Jordan. The route will pass through long stretches of scenic deserts and UNESCO World Heritage archeological sites.
