Saudi Arabia has fastest 5G download speed, S Korea second
South Korea’s 5G download speed is the world’s second fastest behind Saudi Arabia, reaching an average speed of 336.1 megabits per second (Mbps), a report revealed on Tuesday. Saudi Arabia delivered an average 5G download speed of 377.2 Mbps, according to a report from industry tracker Opensignal, which tracked data between July 1 and September 28 in 15 countries with 5G networks.

Zain reaches nationwide 5G coverage in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabian carrier Zain KSA announced the expansion of its 5G network to cover all the Kingdom’s regions, after it has recently included Al-Jouf and the northern borders, the telco said in a release. This expansion raises the company’s 5G network’s total coverage to 30 cities throughout the Kingdom. Zain KSA’s CEO Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Deghaither reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting digital transformation across all the Kingdom’s regions, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC).

Mature Saudi market gearing up for 5G opportunity
5G is firmly on the agenda for Saudi Arabia with the regulator awarding new spectrum for 4G/5G use in early 2019. STC, Zain KSA and Mobily have all developed various 5G partnerships with solution providers like Huawei, Nokia, Cisco and Ericsson, and the three operators have launched preliminary services, with Zain offering 5G roaming between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
