  • Investcorp names Mashaal AlJomaih as CEO for Saudi Arabia unit

    Investcorp, the Bahrain-based alternative asset manager backed by Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Investment Company, has appointed financial industry veteran Mashaal AlJomaih as chief executive for its Saudi Arabia unit, as it seeks to boost its ties with investors in the Arab world's biggest economy. Mr AlJomaih, who has more than 20 years of experience in investment and advisory roles, will replace the retiring Yasser Bajsair, Investcorp said in a statement on Sunday. Before joining Investcorp in 2022, Mr AlJomaih held a number of senior positions at BNP Paribas Investment Company and JPMorgan Chase Bank, and co-founded of Darin Partners, a UK-based commercial real estate investment and consultancy.

  • Saudi FM arrives in Rio de Janeiro ahead of G20 Summit

    Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday ahead of this year’s G20 Summit, Saudi Press Agency reported. Prince Faisal is leading the Kingdom’s delegation to the summit on behalf of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The summit is due to take place on Monday and Tuesday.

    According to AFP, foreigners executed this year included 21 from Pakistan, 20 from Yemen, 14 from Syria, 10 from Nigeria, nine from Egypt, eight from Jordan and seven from Ethiopia. The announcement was made at the conclusion of the 5th UN World Data Forum, which took place in Medellín, Colombia, from November 12 to 15, 2024. The forum gathered representatives from 193 UN member states. Saudi Arabia’s selection was endorsed by the High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination, and Capacity-Building in Statistics (HLG-PCCB), in recognition of the Kingdom’s robust statistical capabilities and commitment to data-driven development.

    French President Emmanuel Macron held an expanded discussion session on Saturday with a group of Saudi and French business leaders to develop and expand mutual investments between the two countries. The meeting, held at the Élysée Palace in Paris, was attended by the visiting Saudi Minister of Investment, Eng. Khalid Al-Falih. The session included the participation of 23 CEOs representing Saudi companies, with discussions focusing on strengthening Saudi-French collaboration in key sectors such as technology, energy transition, and tourism.

    Tunisian President Kais Saied received Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih and his delegation on Saturday at the Presidential Palace of Carthage. The minister passed on greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Saied, along with their well wishes for Tunisia’s ongoing progress, stability and growth, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
