The Ramadan Cease-Fire in Yemen
If the cease-fire holds, it can create space for future peace talks in two ways. First, and most obvious, would be for the domestic and foreign parties to the conflict to use it as a first step to craft a comprehensive peace. But that is unlikely. The second path would be a more modest reunifying of the anti-Houthi alliance, but even that would be difficult.

The U.N.-brokered deal between a Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi group aligned with Iran is the most significant step yet towards ending a conflict that has killed tens of thousands and pushed millions into hunger. GCC chief stresses importance of Yemeni-Yemeni consultations to end conflict
This came during his meeting on Thursday with the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Timothy Lenderking, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh. During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues, most notably the importance of seizing the current opportunity of the Yemeni-Yemeni consultations under the GCC's auspices to end the conflict so that Yemen and its people reach a comprehensive peace.

Saudi Arabia responded positively to U.N. truce for Yemen, official says
Saudi Arabia has responded positively to a ceasefire proposal for Yemen presented by United Nations special envoy Hans Grundberg, a Saudi official said on Thursday. Grundberg has said he was engaging with warring parties in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition has been battling the Iran-aligned Houthis for seven years, to reach a truce for the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, which starts this weekend.

Saudi Arabia hosted allied factions from Yemen's war on Tuesday as the U.N. tries to secure a truce aimed at allowing fuel ships and some flights into Houthi-held areas during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, sources familiar with matter said. The Iran-alligned Houthi movement fighting the military coalition led by Riyadh said it will not attend the talks, but in a statement it described the U.N. initiative as positive. Ramadan begins this weekend.
