Saudi Arabia is betting big on the entertainment sector to boost job creation and provide for a more vibrant society with a whopping $64 billion planned to spend in the next decade, according to the head of the General Entertainment Authority Ahmed Al-Khatib.
Al-Khatib said that the investment and development is already underway, and that the 2018 calendar year will feature 5,500 events in 48 cities in Saudi Arabia.
“We are not talking about plans… Implementation has begun and we will continue to reach the desired level and achieve the highest international standards,” he said through the entertainment Authority’s official Twitter account.
Just 17,000 citizens were employed in the entertainment sector in 2017, but that will soon change. The Kingdom said they aim to reach 220,000 employees in the sector in 2018.
