Overseen by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and established in 2021, the National Platform for Charitable Work (Ehsan) launched its 5th National Campaign for Charitable Work today. The platform has raised over $1.33 billion since 2021.
The National Platform for Charitable Work (Ehsan) was created so that Saudis and others are able to reliably and securely engage in charitable giving. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) oversees the platform not only to guarantee that donations can be made securely but also – using data and artificial intelligence – assist in maximizing the impact of every donation.
The platform provides an independent account for each charitable or non-profit entity to manage donations and issue reports, ensuring the highest levels of security and reliability.
Ehsan facilitates donations through approved institutions and civil associations, automating the donation process in collaboration with civil associations and partner entities. Ehsan collaborates with the General Authority for Awqaf for endowment projects and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) for relief campaigns. It also cooperates with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing for housing and other projects.
On the beneficiary side, Ehsan recently launched the Istihqaq (eligibility) service to verify the eligibility of beneficiaries in integration with government entities. SDAIA provides a unified database and indicators for evaluating the beneficiary’s status after their approval and eligibility verification.
The 4th and most recent campaign in 2024 saw donations exceeding $480 million. That campaign earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for achieving the most daily donations within a 24 hour period. The number of donors on the 27th night of Ramadan last year exceeded 558,000 donors who provided relief to 476,000 beneficiaries.
The third edition saw donations surpassing $202 million. The second edition $199 million and the first $213 million.
The total donations through the platform to date have exceeded $1.33 billion, with over 4.8 million beneficiaries.
