Writing for Construction Week, Angitha Pradeep provides an update on five (more if you separate Neom’s multiple builds) giga projects ongoing in Saudi Arabia.
Writing for LinkedIn in 2020, Francesc Montolio, Engineering and Design Director – Islands, Neom, noted that traditionally, “a project is considered a Giga Project when the planned investment in it exceeds $10B, which is not particularly difficult in the Middle East or in some parts of Asia, today.” Montolio adds that, ” I prefer to define a Giga Project as one which, in addition to size and investment, would be critical for the development of a community, a region or an entire country, both from an economic and social point of view.”
