Saudi Arabia’s population grew 4.7% to 35.3 million by mid-2024 according to the General Authority for Statistics.
In its recently released Population Estimates Statistics 2024 statement Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) noted that Saudi Arabia’s population reached 35.3 million by mid-2024. This was an increase of 1.6 million people from mid-2023, representing a 4.7% growth rate.
The report determined that the total population of Saudis was approximately 19.6 million with an annual growth rate of 2% compared to 19.3 million in mid-2023.
The population of non-Saudis reached nearly 15.7 million compared to 14.5 million people in mid-2023.
The population breakdown was:
Saudi citizens: 55.6% of the population
Non-Saudi citizens: 44.4% of the population
Age 0–14: 33.5% of the population
Age 15–64: 89.9% of non-Saudi population, 62.7% of Saudi population
Additional statistics noted:
Average life expectancy: 78 years
Fertility rate: 2 births per 1,000 women
Males: represented 70.8% of the total population growth
GASTAT is responsible for conducting household surveys to gather data on the Saudi population. This data includes demographic information, such as age, gender, marital status, and educational status.
