Strict rules and regulations in place and an elevated social awareness of the danger of the coronavirus continues to pay dividends in stopping the spread of the virus in Saudi Arabia, data confirms.
Saudi Arabia on Friday recorded just 383 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths, representing some of the lowest figures seen in the Kingdom since May. The total number of virus-related fatalities reached 5,264 on Friday.
Authorities noted the recovery rate for Coronavirus in Saudi Arabia rose to 96.5 percent.
Saudi Arabia’s progress in fighting the spread of the Coronavirus is a result of strong government action and strict rules and fines in place to prevent residents from endangering themselves and others. The Kingdom has, since the start of the global pandemic, used a wide range of measures to counter the virus, including travel bans, curfews, and even significantly throttling back the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
But despite the significant progress, authorities remain vigilant, and are urging residents to continue with measures that are working. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior warned again yesterday that anyone who ignores coronavirus countermeasures, such as wearing a face mask in public or social distancing, will be issued a fine of 1,000 Saudi Riyals.
“A punishment will be issued to anyone who deliberately violates the precautionary and preventative measures… with a fine of 1,000 riyals ($266),” the interior ministry said on Twitter.
The interior ministry had initially issued the warning in May but said it was reaffirming its decision once again to prevent a second wave of the coronavirus.
“We ask everyone to cooperate by applying health precautions and not being complacent. We are all in the same boat, and the failure of some affects everyone,” Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah said last Monday on Twitter.
