U.S. Ambassador Michael Ratney shares his insights with The 966 in a wide-ranging conversation with Richard Wilson. Just over one year in his position, Amb. Ratney offers his perspective on change in Saudi Arabia and an evolving U.S.-Saudi relationship.
The 966 first extended an invitation to U.S. Ambassador, Michael Ratney, soon after he was confirmed just over one year ago. Fortunately for us, Ambassador Ratney chose to wait in order to better understand the situation on the ground in Saudi Arabia, the fire-hose of change ongoing in the Kingdom and the pressing diplomatic issues that have brought the United States and Saudi Arabia to an increasingly aligned vision for the region.
Among other matters, Ambassador Ratney shares his perspective on Vision 2030, the myriad number of economic and social initiatives, women in Saudi Arabia, working with the Saudi leadership, hosting and supporting a long line of senior U.S. government officials and the manner in which he has been received in the Kingdom.
In a minor note, The 966 was pleased to discover that Ambassador Ratney had tuned into The 966 episodes as part of his preparation for his confirmation and his posting to Riyadh.
